Xiaomi EV has announced its first recall, affecting 30,931 SU7 Standard Edition electric vehicles produced between February 6 and November 26, 2024. The recall addresses a software glitch in the parking assist system, which disrupts obstacle detection, increasing collision risks.

The issue stems from a malfunction in the cloud-based service supporting the feature. Xiaomi received 255 complaints, with incidents reported since November 2024. In response, the company implemented temporary fixes via the cloud while developing a permanent solution.
To resolve the problem, Xiaomi will provide a free over-the-air (OTA) software update to all affected vehicles. The fix follows two months of rigorous testing and regulatory approvals.

Launched in March 2024, the SU7 is Xiaomi’s debut EV, competing with Tesla’s Model 3. Despite the recall, Xiaomi delivered over 135,000 vehicles in 2024 and plans to launch its second EV, the YU7 SUV, in mid-2025.
