WhatsApp is gearing up to launch an AI-powered feature that will summarize long conversations and message threads using Meta AI. Discovered in WhatsApp beta version 2.25.15.12 for Android, the feature will prompt users with a ‘Summarize with Meta AI’ option whenever a large number of new messages pile up in private, group, or channel chats.
The summarization tool will use Private Processing infrastructure, ensuring that your messages aren’t visible to WhatsApp, Meta, or any third party during processing. Once generated, the summarized version appears privately on the user’s device, offering a clean, condensed overview of the unread messages. However, the feature won’t be available in conversations where Advanced Chat Privacy is enabled, as this blocks Meta AI features from operating in those chats.
While there’s no official rollout date yet, this tool aims to tackle one of WhatsApp’s biggest user pain points catching up on lengthy, cluttered conversations without sifting through walls of text.
