After years of requests, WhatsApp has finally launched its official iPad app. Teased on the platform’s X account just yesterday, the long-awaited app is now available for download via the App Store, bringing the popular messaging service to a bigger screen.

The new iPad version supports video and audio calls with up to 32 participants, screen sharing, and seamless use of both front and rear cameras. It also integrates smoothly with iPadOS multitasking tools like Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over, letting users chat while browsing or working on other apps. WhatsApp for iPad works with accessories like the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil too.

As expected, conversations stay end-to-end encrypted across all devices, from iPhones and iPads to Macs. The app also features chat lock for added privacy, making it easier to manage confidential chats, even on shared iPads. This marks the start of WhatsApp’s dedicated iPad journey, with more updates likely on the way.
