At this year’s Auto Shanghai forum, Volkswagen is preparing to reveal three “near-production” New Energy Vehicle (NEV) concepts aimed specifically at the Chinese market. CEO statements confirm that these models are close to final versions and will be officially launched soon.

The trio includes an all-electric hatchback from FAW-Volkswagen, a B-segment SUV with a range extender from SAIC Volkswagen, and a fully electric SUV developed by Volkswagen Anhui. These models highlight VW’s “In China, for China” strategy, with the company boasting a 30% reduction in production time as it strives to stay competitive in China’s fast-moving EV market.

Volkswagen plans to introduce over 20 new NEVs in China by 2027, signaling a bold shift toward electrification and localization. While detailed specs weren’t shared in the initial release, more information is expected in the coming weeks as VW ramps up its push in the world’s largest electric vehicle market.
