Amid persistent rumors, Spotify has reaffirmed its promise that Premium subscriptions will remain ad-free now and in the future. Despite a few isolated incidents this year where ads mistakenly played for Premium users, Spotify has clarified these were unintentional bugs, not a change in policy.

The company addressed the rumors in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), stating plainly that, “Premium music listening is and will remain ad-free.” The clarification came after concerned users reported ad interruptions and feared Spotify might follow other platforms that have gradually introduced ads to paid tiers, such as Netflix and Prime Video.
There is a rumor circulating that Spotify is putting ads into premium music listening. This rumor is false. Premium music listening is and will remain ad-free.

Spotify’s public denial aims to reassure Premium users that it remains committed to a clean, uninterrupted music experience. While glitches happen, Spotify is drawing a firm line: no ads, ever, for Premium. For now, at least, Premium truly still means premium.
