Sony Xperia 1 VII Rumored for May 15 Launch, Global Release in July

Sony’s Xperia 1 VII is rumored to launch on May 15, exactly one year after the Xperia 1 VI’s debut. The announcement will reportedly coincide with its Japan release on the same day, while the global rollout is expected in July a familiar pattern for Sony’s flagship Xperia line.

Leaked renders suggest the Xperia 1 VII will closely resemble its predecessor, retaining the classic Xperia look. The device has also surfaced on Geekbench, confirming it’ll be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Elite (likely renamed from Gen 3 Elite) and paired with 12GB of RAM, mirroring the Xperia 1 VI’s specs.

The new model measures 161.9 x 74.5 x 8.5mm, making it just a hair shorter, wider, and thicker than last year’s version, but will reportedly stick with a 6.5-inch display. It’s expected to ship with Android 15 out of the box, despite Google aiming to roll out Android 16 by late June.
