Samsung is gearing up to challenge Apple in the XR headset market, with its upcoming device expected to feature a sharper display than the Apple Vision Pro. Reports suggest Samsung will use Sony’s 1.3-inch 4K OLEDoS panels with a 3,800 ppi pixel density, a 12% improvement over Apple’s 3,391 ppi.

The headset, which runs on Android XR, was teased at the Galaxy S25 launch and MWC 2025, with a planned release in H2 2025. Samsung’s choice of Sony over its own eMagin displays suggests a strong focus on premium visual quality. Pricing remains unknown, but with Sony’s display tech being costly, estimates suggest it could land above $1,000–$2,000.

Samsung reportedly aims to sell 100,000 units, while Apple is rumored to be working on a cheaper Vision Pro after sluggish sales of its current model. With both brands competing, the premium XR space is set for a shake-up.
