Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro lineup might finally ditch the notch. According to a fresh rumor from China, Apple is testing under-display Face ID technology for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, expected in September 2026. This would allow the devices to sport a single hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera, delivering a seamless, modern front design while retaining secure 3D face scanning something Android rivals have skipped in favor of simpler, less secure solutions.

The rumor highlights Apple’s cautious approach: testing doesn’t guarantee adoption, but it signals progress toward a long-requested aesthetic upgrade. If the under-display Face ID passes Apple’s quality standards, it could mean the end of the notch for Pro iPhones.

Interestingly, Apple’s first foldable iPhone is also rumored to feature this tech, while the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18 Air are expected to stick with the notch for now.
