OnePlus is preparing to ditch its iconic Alert Slider in favor of a customizable smart button, with the upcoming OnePlus 13T expected to debut the change. According to Li Jie, President of OnePlus China, the new shortcut key will still handle Silent, Vibration, and Ringing modes but will also introduce expanded functionality.
This shift addresses long-standing user feedback requesting more customization options. OnePlus teases a “very interesting function” for the button, though full details remain under wraps until launch. The move marks a major change in the brand’s hardware identity, previously known for the tactile convenience of the Alert Slider.
Alongside this, the OnePlus 13T will reportedly feature a compact 6.3-inch flat screen, appealing to fans of smaller phones. Official specs confirm a 6,000mAh battery packed into a lightweight 185g body matching or even exceeding the capacity of the larger OnePlus 13. The device is expected to launch later this month, although OnePlus hasn’t revealed the exact date yet.
