Mitsubishi is set to enter the electric vehicle (EV) market in a big way with a new coupe crossover EV launching in 2026. Built on the same AmpR Medium platform used by the Nissan Ariya and Renault Megane E-Tech, this model will share similarities with Nissan’s upcoming Leaf successor. Production for the Nissan model will begin later this year, with Mitsubishi’s version following in 2027.

The new EV will feature a sleek coupe crossover design with a sloping roofline, although the exact design similarities between the two brands remain to be seen. Mitsubishi plans to make the vehicle in Japan for global export, marking the beginning of its electrification journey. The company aims for 50% electrified vehicles by 2030 and 100% by 2035, with nine new electric models planned by 2028, including a midsize pickup truck developed with Nissan.
