Microsoft Reportedly Launching Xbox Handheld in 2025

Microsoft is reportedly working on an Xbox-branded handheld gaming device, set to launch in late 2025. The device, internally codenamed “Keenan,” will feature Xbox design elements, including an Xbox Guide button, but may run on Windows. This suggests it could function more like a portable gaming PC rather than a traditional console. The handheld will emphasize Xbox Game Pass and the Microsoft Store as key gaming platforms.

With handheld gaming gaining popularity—thanks to the Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, and ASUS ROG Ally—Microsoft’s entry into this space could be a major industry shift. The company is said to be collaborating with a manufacturing partner to develop the hardware rather than building it entirely in-house. If the Windows-based rumors hold, this device may provide access to PC games in addition to Xbox content.

Additionally, Microsoft is reportedly planning a new high-end Xbox console for 2027, potentially replacing the Series X as a premium option. The company is also expected to introduce new controllers while maintaining backward compatibility for older games.
