While the teaser video reveals nothing concrete about the hardware, it cements Meta’s expanding presence in the wearables game — this time targeting athletes.
The move isn’t entirely out of the blue. Bloomberg had already reported this partnership back in January, hinting that Meta would extend its smartglasses tech beyond Ray-Ban to Oakley’s performance-centric lineup. These new glasses are rumored to be based on the Oakley Sphaera frame — designed with athletes in mind, offering comfort and durability for high-intensity use.
Expect these Oakley smart glasses to mirror much of what’s already popular on Meta’s Ray-Ban line: a built-in camera, open-ear speakers, and Meta AI integration for voice assistance, photo capture, and hands-free calls. What they won’t likely include is a built-in display. While Meta is developing more advanced AR glasses, this Oakley edition appears focused on practical, display-free features that suit outdoor sports and fitness scenarios.
A notable design tweak could be a centrally positioned camera instead of the side-mounted setup seen on the Ray-Bans — a more athlete-friendly placement that improves usability during cycling, running, or other activities. Pricing is expected to land close to $299, making them a premium but accessible option for fans of both Oakley’s styling and Meta’s AI ecosystem.
