Mercedes-Benz has given us a first look at its all-electric GLC, slated to hit roads in spring 2026. Built on a fresh 800V platform, it’s ditching the old EQ branding strategy and electrifying a familiar nameplate instead. On paper, it sounds impressive a 650 km range (WLTP), a dual-motor AWD setup with 483 hp, a 320kW fast charging system, and even a frunk. But let’s be honest, when you see it, you’ll probably mistake it for any other luxury SUV on the road.

The GLC EV is sportier, a little lower at the back, stretched for better interior room, and packs solid features like a two-speed transmission for high-speed efficiency. There’s even a plan for a rear-wheel-drive version and cheaper LFP battery variants later. Yet visually? It’s another safe, SUV-shaped bread van. Change the badge and you’d struggle to tell it apart from a Macan, iX, or a Model Y. It feels like automakers are too afraid to break away from that same-old SUV silhouette.

Don’t get me wrong — the tech is cool. A Tesla-compatible NACS charging port for US buyers, lightning-fast European charging, and solid performance specs make this GLC a serious contender. But I’ll wait for the full reveal. Maybe the interior will show more ambition, because right now, it’s just one more premium crossover in a world already drowning in them.
