Chinese semiconductor company Loongson Technology has announced its 3C6000 processor series, signaling a major step in its competition with global chip giants AMD and Intel. The new processors, set to launch in the third week of January 2025, include the 32-core 3C6000/D, designed to rival Intel’s 2021 Xeon 32-core ‘Ice Lake’ CPU.
The series also features a powerful 64-core 3C6000/Q, expected for release in 2025, which will support up to 128 threads for advanced server configurations. Despite US trade restrictions, Loongson continues to make strides in semiconductor production, with the 3C6000 series designed for demanding tasks like AI, data analytics, and simulations. Additionally, the company plans to release its 2K3000 processor and 9A1000 graphics card by 2025.
