Lamborghini has postponed the launch of its first all-electric vehicle, originally planned for 2028, to 2029. CEO Stephan Winkelmann expressed concerns about the market’s readiness for electric supercars, noting that performance needs may not be fully met by current EV technology in the next few years. “We do not think 2029 is late to have an electric car,” Winkelmann said, citing the unique demands of luxury car customers who prioritize performance.
Currently, Lamborghini offers three hybrid models: the Urus SE, Revuelto, and the €300,000 Temerario. The brand aims to ensure its electric model maintains the Lamborghini driving experience. Additionally, Winkelmann suggested that synthetic fuels could play a role in the company’s future, amid the European Union’s 2035 ban on internal combustion engines.
The electric vehicle, previewed by the Lanzador concept, is now expected to arrive in 2029, with the company also keeping quiet about plans for an electric SUV.
