Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple is developing a foldable device, set to launch around 2028. The device will be a large iPad that unfolds into the size of two iPad Pros side-by-side, similar to Microsoft’s Surface Neo and Lenovo’s Yoga Book 9i. Apple plans for a seamless screen without visible hinges, resembling the ThinkPad X1 Fold.
Early prototypes have made significant progress, with a nearly invisible screen crease. The display is expected to be around 18.8 inches when fully expanded. This foldable iPad will likely run iPadOS or a modified version of it.
Additionally, Gurman revealed that Apple is also working on a foldable iPhone, expected to launch around 2026. Reports suggest the iPhone could feature a flip-style design, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip. Apple’s foldable iPad and iPhone could reshape the company’s approach to foldable technology in the coming years.
