Google’s Gemini AI Now Powers Reddit Answers for Smarter, Real-Time Summaries

Google’s Gemini AI has officially embedded itself in Reddit. Through a new partnership, Reddit and Google Cloud announced that Gemini is now the engine behind Reddit Answers, the platform’s AI-powered tool that summarizes Reddit threads into quick, helpful responses. Built on Google’s Vertex AI, the integration promises to deliver more conversational and relevant answers grounded in Reddit’s rich community discussions.

Reddit Answers has been live in beta since late 2024, helping users navigate millions of posts by turning them into TL;DR-style summaries with direct links to the original threads. According to both companies, Gemini’s inclusion enhances accuracy and relevance, thanks to its ability to sift through over 100,000 active communities and 400 million users’ weekly input. Reddit claims this has boosted homepage traffic and engagement.

Still, not all users are on board. Some Redditors have criticized the feature’s sudden rollout, calling it disruptive and hard to remove. While Gemini brings AI power to Reddit’s surface, many still prefer its raw, unfiltered experience.
