Google Pixel 10a Could Feature Older Tensor Chipset to Cut Costs

While the Google Pixel 9a isn’t even official yet, rumors about its successor, the Pixel 10a, are already circulating. Expected to launch in early 2026, the Pixel 10a may feature significant cost-cutting measures, particularly with its chipset. Reports suggest that Google might opt for a lower-performance version of the Tensor G5 chipset, which will power other Pixel 10 devices, or even the Tensor G4, which debuted in the Pixel 9 series.

This would break with tradition, as previous “a” models have used the latest Tensor SoC. A choice of the older Tensor G4 could hurt the Pixel 10a’s appeal, especially in terms of AI capabilities, as the G5 is expected to enable more advanced AI features. The decision is likely driven by cost concerns, as using the G5 might push the Pixel 10a’s price too high, impacting its competitiveness.
