Google Photos Is Getting a Smarter, Simpler Setup Screen

Google Photos is set to simplify its first-time setup experience with a revamped onboarding screen. Spotted through an APK teardown of version 7.26, the upcoming UI refresh aims to make it easier for new users or those switching devices to manage their photo backups.

Key changes include a prominent display of the user’s profile photo, a more accessible toggle for using mobile data during backups, and clearer details about backup quality options. Currently, these settings require a trip deep into the Photos settings menu, but the new layout brings them forward during initial setup.

As always with APK teardowns, there’s no guarantee this feature will hit public release, but the changes seem polished and practical enough to expect a rollout in the near future.
