Google Messages is working on a long-awaited feature—remote deletion of sent messages. While not yet publicly available, new findings suggest that the feature is nearing completion. Users will soon be able to delete messages from recipients’ devices, provided they’re using the latest RCS-supported version.

Currently, RCS messages can only be deleted locally, meaning they remain visible to recipients. However, in a recent Google Messages beta release, developers uncovered options for remote message deletion. This feature will allow users to either remove a message from their own device or delete it from all recipients’ devices within 15 minutes of sending. Older versions of the app may not support this functionality.

Though there’s no official release date, Google’s continued development suggests the feature could roll out soon. If implemented, it would bring Google Messages closer to WhatsApp and other messaging platforms that already offer similar capabilities.
