Samsung’s much-anticipated Android XR headset, codenamed Project Moohan, finally has a release window. During the Google I/O 2025 keynote, Google confirmed the device will be available for purchase later this year, though an exact date remains under wraps. Originally teased at the Galaxy Unpacked event in January, this marks Samsung’s debut into the Android XR space.

While specifics on Project Moohan’s final name or detailed specs are scarce, Google revealed it will be the first Android XR device to feature its Gemini AI system integrated directly into the headset. This move hints at AI-powered interactions within virtual and mixed reality environments.

Project Moohan was jointly developed by Google and Samsung, with platform optimizations by Qualcomm. It’s confirmed to run on the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset a premium silicon tailor-made for immersive experiences. Google also noted that hundreds of developers have been building for Android XR since its developer preview last year, signaling a strong content lineup for launch.
