Google is edging closer to turning its app into a Pinterest rival at least when it comes to image discovery. The latest Google app v16.23.71 beta introduces a new Images tab for select users, and it’s essentially a mood board-driven feed of pictures based on your interests.

Once enabled, the Images tab prompts users to pick at least three topics like Fashion, Home Decor, or Travel, creating a tailored visual feed sourced from public images indexed via Google Search. Long-pressing an image lets you share it, save it to your collections, or instantly reverse search it with Google Lens. Don’t like something? You can hide it too, ensuring your feed stays relevant.

While Google hasn’t officially announced a public release timeline, the rollout to beta testers signals the feature’s near-complete state. Beta feedback will reportedly guide final tweaks and fixes before it lands in the stable release. Judging by early reports, it’s a clean, intuitive way to visually browse ideas — something Pinterest has dominated for years.

For now, the feature remains limited to Android beta users, but a wider rollout seems inevitable. If you’ve ever wanted a curated image board powered by Google’s vast search engine instead of Pinterest’s walled platform, this might be the feature you didn’t know you needed.
