Google Adds ‘Add to Calendar’ Button in Gmail for Faster Event Creation

Google has introduced a new feature allowing users to add events to Google Calendar directly from Gmail, powered by Gemini AI. The system detects calendar-related content in emails and displays an “Add to calendar” button. Clicking it opens a side panel for quick confirmation, simplifying event creation without leaving Gmail.

Currently, this feature is limited to English and is only available on Gmail’s web interface. It does not apply to automatically extracted events like flight bookings or restaurant reservations. Additionally, events created through this method will not include other guests. This builds on Gemini’s existing ability to check Google Calendar within Gmail, a feature introduced in November 2023.

The rollout begins today and will continue until mid-April. However, the feature is restricted to Google Workspace Business and Enterprise users, Gemini Education subscribers, and Google One AI Premium members. Regular Gmail users will not have access at this time.
