Google is bringing its Gemini AI assistant to Android Auto in the next few months, transforming how drivers interact with their vehicles. The upgrade will let users issue hands-free voice commands without needing to tap a button simply speak naturally while keeping your hands on the wheel.

Drivers will be able to use Gemini just like on their smartphones but tailored for on-the-road scenarios. For example, you could ask, “Take me to the nearest ATM” and then follow up with “Find a café nearby with good Wi-Fi”. Gemini’s contextual smarts will streamline multi-step tasks without breaking focus from driving.

Following its arrival on Android Auto, Gemini will also roll out to cars with Google built-in vehicles that don’t require a connected phone to use Google services. With over 250 million cars supporting Android Auto and 50 models already offering Google built-in, this marks a major leap for AI-powered, voice-first in-car experiences.
