The Exynos chipset is making a comeback but only for some. A fresh industry note claims Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series will reintroduce the Exynos 2600 SoC, following the Exynos 2500’s absence in this year’s Galaxy S25 lineup. However, due to ongoing yield issues, the Exynos-powered S26 models are reportedly reserved for European markets only.

This move comes after Samsung’s System LSI division took a heavy financial hit when the Exynos 2500 was dropped from the S25 series, with losses estimated at around $400 million. Naturally, Samsung seems determined to avoid a repeat.

That said, the Exynos 2600 may still fall short. Industry insiders report that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Elite successor will maintain a clear performance lead over the Exynos chip. While Europe traditionally receives Exynos variants, the reason for this preference remains a mystery and if history repeats, users there might once again get a less powerful Galaxy flagship.
