DeepSeek AI App Could Face US Ban, Warns Arm CEO

DeepSeek, the rapidly growing Chinese AI platform, may soon face a ban in the United States, according to Arm CEO Rene Haas. Speaking to the Financial Times, Haas warned that the app’s future in the US is uncertain due to foreign policy concerns.

DeepSeek has gained massive traction, topping the App Store charts and being adopted by major players like Huawei, Honor, and Microsoft. However, its Chinese origins raise concerns similar to those surrounding TikTok, which is currently under scrutiny by US regulators.

While DeepSeek lacks American operations, it relies on the open-source DeepSeek R1 model, meaning users could still run it locally despite potential restrictions. If a ban materializes, it could further escalate tensions over China’s role in AI and technology.
