OpenAI has rolled out a ChatGPT beta update (v1.2025.070) that allows users to set ChatGPT as their default assistant on Android. This means users can now invoke ChatGPT using familiar buttons and gestures previously reserved for Google’s Gemini.

With this update, Android users can launch ChatGPT by:
- Long-pressing the home button (if using three-button navigation)
- Swiping up from the bottom corner (if using gesture navigation)
- Long-pressing the power button (if enabled in settings)

When triggered, ChatGPT opens in voice mode, allowing hands-free interaction. While it still has some limitations compared to competitors like Perplexity AI, this marks a major step in making ChatGPT more accessible on mobile devices.
