Apple’s next-generation CarPlay 2.0 may introduce customizable widgets, giving users an iPhone-like experience in their car. Although Apple missed its 2024 release deadline, leaked images posted by @Aaronp613 on X provide a glimpse into the future of CarPlay. The interface includes a central section dedicated to widgets and core functions.
Much like on iOS, widgets in CarPlay 2.0 can be added by selecting “Add widgets,” which reveals a list of available options. The displayed widgets include a Clock, Weather, and Calendar, all designed as squares. There’s also flexibility in how the widgets are arranged, including a split widget showing a map on one side and Now Playing controls on the other. This feature could revolutionize how users interact with their in-car system, making it more personalized and intuitive.
