BMW has given the public a closer look at two major upcoming EVs the next-gen iX3 and i3 — during its 105th annual general meeting. The event, while mostly focused on financials, lit up for car fans when camouflaged versions of both models took the stage. The electric iX3, looking nearly production-ready, is scheduled for a full debut at the IAA Mobility Show in September, while the i3 sedan prototype hinted at what’s to come, missing some final components like its definitive taillights.

Interestingly, though these vehicles are built on the same Neue Klasse platform, they’ll roll off different assembly lines. The iX3 will be produced at BMW’s new Debrecen plant in Hungary, while the i3 sedan will remain in Munich a factory set to become fully electric-only by 2027. BMW also confirmed a high-performance M variant of the i3 is in development, with expectations high for an M-badged iX3 later.

BMW’s electric future is charging ahead, and the Neue Klasse line-up is at the core of it.
