Ubisoft’s highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows is finally set to launch on March 20, 2025, for Mac, iPad, PC, and consoles after multiple delays. The game transports players to 16th century feudal Japan, allowing them to switch between two protagonists a stealthy Shinobi assassin and a legendary samurai each with unique playstyles. Originally announced in May 2024, the game was initially slated for a November 2024 release before facing setbacks.

Ubisoft has leveraged Apple’s advanced hardware, integrating Metal 3, hardware based ray tracing, and HDR support to ensure a seamless gaming experience on M-series Macs and iPads. The title will be available on the macOS App Store for $69.99 but remains marked as “Coming Soon” until its official launch. Unlike most AAA games, which take years to arrive on macOS, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will debut alongside other major platforms, signaling Ubisoft’s growing commitment to Apple’s gaming ecosystem.

In addition to a historically accurate depiction of feudal Japan, the game will be available in both English and Japanese, enhancing immersion. Ubisoft’s executive producer Marc Alexis Cote expressed optimism about Mac gaming, hinting at more Ubisoft titles coming to Apple devices in the future. With Assassin’s Creed Shadows marking a significant milestone, Apple users may finally see AAA gaming thrive on their platforms.
