Apple’s AI-Powered Smart Glasses Target Late 2026 Launch

Apple’s long-rumored smart glasses are reportedly on track for a late 2026 release, according to a fresh Bloomberg report. Unlike earlier expectations of a full augmented reality experience, this first iteration will focus on AI-powered features and resemble Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses though sources claim Apple’s version will be “better made.”

The device is expected to pack cameras, microphones, speakers, and an in-house chip, enabling phone calls, music control, live translations, and AI-driven world analysis via Siri. While true AR capabilities remain years away, this marks a key move in Apple’s broader AI strategy.

This report arrives just a day after OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced plans for new AI hardware in collaboration with ex-Apple designer Jony Ive, signaling intensifying competition in AI wearables. Meanwhile, Apple has scrapped its previously rumored plans for a camera-equipped smartwatch but continues development on camera-enabled AirPods.
