Apple is re-evaluating its wearable tech strategy, shifting focus from the bulky Apple Vision Pro to a sleeker AR glasses concept, potentially launching by 2030. The Vision Pro’s lackluster commercial success has prompted Apple to explore standalone AR glasses once again after shelving a related project earlier in 2025.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is in the early stages of developing a more lightweight and practical AR wearable. However, it could take three to five years before a consumer-ready version materializes. The tech giant is also considering launching its own version of Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses, featuring cameras, microphones, audio, and AI, but lacking full AR functionality.

Apple’s potential pivot to AR glasses signals a long-term commitment to wearable innovation, despite current setbacks. If successful, the device could redefine the augmented reality market, making immersive technology more accessible and practical for everyday use.
