Apple is reportedly preparing to launch an iPhone 17 Ultra, which may replace the Pro Max variant entirely. This rumor has circulated before, but new supply chain analysis suggests Apple is moving forward with the change. The Ultra model is expected to feature a smaller Dynamic Island, a larger battery, and exclusive hardware upgrades, setting it apart from previous Pro Max models.
One of the biggest changes could be the addition of a vapor chamber cooling system, which is currently not present in iPhones. With a larger battery and enhanced cooling, the Ultra is expected to be thicker than previous models. Apple’s move aligns with its strategy of branding premium-tier products under the “Ultra” label, similar to the Apple Watch Ultra and M3 Ultra chip.
While it’s still early, industry reports indicate Apple is aiming to justify a price increase by packing the iPhone 17 Ultra with significant hardware improvements. More details should emerge as we get closer to the official launch.
