After Apple, Samsung could be hit by 25% US import tariff on Galaxy devices

Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones might soon see a massive price surge in the United States. A recent announcement from former US President Donald Trump confirmed a proposed 25% tariff on all foreign-made smartphones sold in the US not just Apple devices as initially believed. This move could dramatically impact Samsung, which manufactures its phones entirely outside the US, primarily in Vietnam.

According to South Korean outlet FNNews, prices for Samsung’s premium devices, including the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, could climb by 30-40% if the tariffs are imposed. That would push the Fold 7’s price tag as high as $2,500, making it far less competitive in the US premium smartphone market where Apple still dominates.

The South Korean tech sector has reportedly declared an “emergency” over the looming tariffs. While there’s still a chance these measures might be delayed or scrapped, the industry remains on edge with the proposed deadline approaching in late June.
