Honor Ends Its India Comeback, Madhav Sheth Moves to Revive Alcatel Brand

Honor has abruptly ended its comeback in India just 20 months after relaunching in September 2023. The return was led by Madhav Sheth, former Realme India chief, who aimed to grow Honor under India’s “Made in India” program. However, fans were surprised when official channels announced that “Explore Honor” has ceased all operations and support in the country.

Interestingly, Madhav Sheth has shifted focus, now leading the local revival of the Alcatel smartphone brand after acquiring naming rights from TCL. His LinkedIn lists him as Founder & Tech Advisor for Alcatel India, and his social profiles no longer mention Honor. The company’s fan group is also rebranding to reflect this change.

The new Alcatel devices bear design similarities to TCL’s NxtPaper and NxtVision phones, suggesting possible shared technology or development. An official reveal of the Alcatel lineup is expected soon, potentially marking a fresh chapter for Sheth and the Indian smartphone market.
