WhatsApp is stepping up its privacy game with a new feature called Advanced Chat Privacy. The app has long relied on end-to-end encryption to protect personal messages and calls. But now, it’s adding an extra layer to ensure that what’s shared in a conversation stays there especially in sensitive groups where not everyone might be closely connected.

With this new setting enabled, users can block others from exporting chats, auto-downloading media, and using AI tools to access or repurpose messages. It’s aimed at giving users more control over their conversations, particularly when discussing private matters like health, activism, or community plans.

To activate Advanced Chat Privacy, simply tap the chat name, then head to the new privacy option. This is the first version of the feature, with WhatsApp confirming that more enhancements will follow. The rollout has already begun globally for users on the latest app version.
