Google Lens Enhances AI Overviews, Adds Shortcut for iOS Users

Google Lens is expanding its AI Overview feature, making it more accessible for users performing visual searches. Previously, AI Overviews only appeared when users asked follow-up questions about images or videos. With this update, AI-generated insights will now show up even without additional queries, allowing users to gain more context instantly.

Google highlights how this will work—if users spot a unique car texture, Lens will generate an AI Overview with relevant details, along with supplementary web resources. The update starts rolling out this week for English-speaking users in supported regions and will be available in the Google app for Android and iOS.

Additionally, Google is integrating a Lens shortcut into the Chrome and Google apps on iOS. iPhone users can now access Lens via the three-dot menu to search their screen. In the coming months, Google plans to add a dedicated Lens shortcut in Chrome’s address bar for even quicker access.
