Apple Maps May Introduce Ads And Users Won’t Be Happy

Apple may soon introduce ads in Apple Maps, following Google’s model of paid business placements. A new Bloomberg report suggests that Apple is exploring monetization strategies for its navigation app, allowing businesses to pay for better search rankings and increased visibility.

While no engineering work has begun, Apple previously explored this idea and seems to be revisiting the concept as part of its strategy to boost services revenue. If implemented, Apple Maps could display priority listings for businesses, much like Google’s Local Ads on Maps.

Though ads could fund new features, they may also impact user experience, making it harder to find organic search results. This potential shift would align Apple Maps more closely with Google Maps, intensifying competition between the two services.
