VW Confirms ID.2X Name for Its Smallest Electric SUV, Set for September Unveiling

Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer has officially confirmed that the brand’s smallest electric SUV will be called the ID.2X and will debut at the IAA motor show in Munich this September. The vehicle, previously known as the ID.2all SUV, will be a higher-riding sibling to the ID.2 and is aimed at the growing European small SUV market.

Built on a shortened MEB platform, the ID.2X will feature a 223bhp front-wheel-drive motor and two battery options: 38 kWh and 56 kWh, with the latter offering a 451 km WLTP range and 125 kW DC fast charging. The SUV will measure 4,100 mm in length, offer over 490L of trunk space, and feature a 12.9″ infotainment screen with physical climate and audio controls.

Pricing is expected to start at around €30,000 (£25,000). Production will take place in Spain, alongside the ID.2, Cupra Raval, and Skoda Epiq.
