Xiaomi has confirmed that its upcoming flagship, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, will have a global launch. Lu Weibing, Xiaomi Group Partner and President, revealed the news during a Q&A session with Chinese fans. The 15 Ultra is set to be announced in China after the Chinese New Year, which falls on January 29, 2025. A global unveiling is expected at MWC in Barcelona in late February or early March.
This would break with tradition, as previous “a” models have used the latest Tensor SoC. A choice of the older Tensor G4 could hurt the Pixel 10a’s appeal, especially in terms of AI capabilities, as the G5 is expected to enable more advanced AI features. The decision is likely driven by cost concerns, as using the G5 might push the Pixel 10a’s price too high, impacting its competitiveness.
