YouTube Uses AI to Catch Kids Pretending to Be Adults

YouTube is rolling out AI age-detection in the US to spot minors lying about their age. The system uses viewing habits, account history, and other signals to estimate a user’s real age regardless of what’s on their profile. If flagged as underage, users can verify with an ID, credit card, or selfie.

The move comes as global pressure mounts to protect children from adult content, with countries like Australia pushing strict under-16 bans. AI might help keep kids safer online but it also quietly raises the question of how much of our digital behavior is now being profiled

PixelShorts: Grok AI Suspended, Musk Calls It a ‘Dumb’ Move

Grok, Elon Musk’s AI chatbot, was briefly suspended on X. No official reason given. But Grok claims it was pulled for saying Israel and the US are committing genocide in Gaza citing UN and Amnesty reports. The post was deleted, the account restored, and Musk called the suspension “shooting ourselves in the foot.”

Even AI is now running into freedom-of-speech problems proof that in the digital town square, the rules can shift depending on who’s talking

Perplexity Wants to Buy Google Chrome for $34.5B

Perplexity AI, led by Aravind Srinivas, says it’s ready to buy Google Chrome for $34.5 billion despite being valued at just $18 billion. The AI search startup claims multiple funds will finance the deal in full, though Chrome isn’t even for sale. Google plans to fight a monopoly ruling instead.

Perplexity already has its own AI browser, Comet, but Chrome’s 3+ billion users would be a prize catch. Still, this feels less like a realistic takeover bid and more like a very expensive PR stunt. Sometimes in tech, the headline is the point.
