Apple Vision Pro is gaining traction in the medical field, with 300 doctors from 10 countries attending a summit hosted by Sharp HealthCare to discuss its applications in surgery. The headset, despite its $3,500 price tag, is proving to be a cost-effective alternative to traditional $20,000 operating room monitors.
Doctors report that Vision Pro enhances surgery by providing real-time overlays, improving education, and reducing strain from awkward viewing angles. Sharp partnered with Zeiss for cataract surgery visualization, while Stryker and Elsevier developed apps for orthopedic and cardiac analysis.
Dr. Broderick from UCSD Health noted that the headset “fades into the background” during procedures, making it an intuitive tool. As Apple refines its spatial computing technology, its integration into healthcare is expected to grow, improving both training and patient outcomes.
