The 2025 model shows notable improvements over the 2022 R1S, which had a “Moderate” rating for the overlap crash test and a “Poor” rating for seat belt reminders. The 2025 R1S performed well in the moderate overlap crash test, with only the driver’s leg protection rated as “Adequate.” Rivian’s safety upgrades have clearly paid off, especially in crash performance.
The R1S joins other vehicles, including the Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Ioniq 5, in receiving this top safety honor, highlighting its impressive crash protection and overall safety features.
